I think Jenkinson at this stage is a bit too much of a liability, if Cressie is back then Tomkins has to start at RB. Collins has to keep his place and has been immense recently. I do worry about Kouyaté and Noble, but as has been said on here many times having better players back brings the best out of Noble at least. Song for me needs more game time but I wouldn't start him. My starting 11 for what it's worth

Noble Obiang Payet Antonio Lanzini

If Payet doesn't start swap in Kouyate.
Impact subs - Carroll and Zarate plus Payet if he doesn't start. Otherwise leave a sub for injuries or tiredness late on.

I couldn't start Jenkinson, he looks such a massive liability. Stick with Tomkins at RB as we've barely conceded with him there.

If everyone is available that the clubs stated then we play the best team. Sorry but against Liverpool who will press we need our quickest defence playing.
Adrian Jenkinson Tomkins Ogbonna Cresswell
Obiang Noble Kouyate
Lanzini Valencia Antonio
subs Randolph Collins Reid Payet Carroll Zarate Song
That's one hell of a bench. Any slackers and they are off.
Give Carroll and Payet 30 mins each Song 15/20 mins

Well Cresswell, Reid, Payet and Moses are in doubt but may be available, I hope Cresswell can start and I would then go for the team that did well in the 2nd half but swapping Tomkins for Cresswell. Song was rubbish, he is skillful no doubt but does not deserve to start.

I dont think Bilic has started a player returning from injury yet who has missed 3-4 games or more so I'd expect all of Payet, Moses and Reid to be on the bench if they can even make that.
The team will really depend on whether he wants to try and flood the midfield again or get at them from the start with a similar team to which started the 2nd half against Southampton with 2 wide forwards and a central striker.

I'd leave Carroll on the bench, valencia up top, lanzini and Antonio out wide and midfield three of noble kouyate and obiang
One thing I'm always uncertain with is how to ease players recovering from injury back into the team. Sometimes I think coming off the bench when the game is in full flow is harder for someone who's a little rusty than starting and easing into it. Guess it depends how much payet is capable of playing

I would not start Song because he has shown he is not up to pace yet. Bring him on later when other players, particularly the opposition, are tiring instead. Carroll needs to start too and Bilic can ring the changes to suit as the match progresses.
If Cresswell is still injured because we need an attacking outlet from full back I would play Jenkinson in his natural position ( where he actually provided a threat against Southampton ) with Tomkins on the left.
At least we are almost back to having viable options available.

Sir Alf - agree with all of that but not sure about Tomkins at lb - looked very unconvincing there against Southampton. I wonder if there is any reason why Kouyate can't play at lb - he is good defensively and more mobile than Tomkins - would be much better going forward, which Tomkins always seems reluctant to do. Either that or take a punt on Hendrie.

Once again, whatever lineup, just make sure Carroll isn't starting. Sub him when 20mins left.

Liverpool are good on the road and counter attacking like a lot of teams these days.
Starting Carroll will mean going for a route 1 type game from the start. I guess though that the absence of Skirtel might be a reason to line up that way?
We need to dominate midfield in the first half so will need the movement that Lanzini provides. But we also need better defensive cover and tracking back. That was our issue first half against southampton.
I would start with Obiang and place Song deeper where he has more time and space on the ball. Song struggled in the advanced role. He is better with being able to thread passes through from deep.
Assuming Cresswell, Reid, Payet and Moses are unable to start:
Adrian Jenkinson Collins Oggy Tomkins Song Obiang Antonio Noble Lanzini Valencia
Carroll to come on 2nd half. Payet to replace one of the midfielders 2nd half after 60 mins depending on how things stand.

Don't know why the club are starting to publish tactics ahead of games the days . Payet will feature for 30 to 45 mins against Liverpool. Why let Klopp know that!
Btw agree that Carroll is more effective as a sub when he can batter tired central defenders.
